Andaman and Nicobar Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) Recruitment 2026

Basic eligibility paths

• ✓Eligibility Condition (Para 2): the applicant must be an Indian National; all candidates shall be required to apply ONLINE for the post whether they are registered with the Employment Exchange or not; and Central Government civilian employees or servants and Departmental Candidates of the A&N Administration must also apply online within the due date and upload the NOC or intimation to the respective department about the online submission of the application.
• ✓The post is open to female candidates only: the notice invites online applications from eligible female candidates for the Group 'C' Non-Ministerial post of Auxiliary Nurse Midwife.
• ✓Essential qualification: pass in the Senior Secondary Examination (XIIth Standard) from a recognised Board or institution, plus a pass in the ANM Certificate Course with a valid ANM training certificate from a recognised institute.
• ✓NOTE-II: only Local Scheduled Tribe candidates covered under the Constitution (A&N Islands) Scheduled Tribe Order 1959 may apply against the ST quota, other ST candidates being considered only for unreserved vacancies; only Local OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates covered by Gazette Notification No.343/205/F.No.8-3/2003-TW dated 16 Dec 2005 and No.752006/F.No.8-3/2003-TW dated 19 Apr 2006 may claim the OBC quota, and OBC candidates from outside the UT are considered only against unreserved vacancies.
• ✓Candidates seeking reserved vacancies or age relaxation must submit a valid requisite certificate from the competent authority issued on or before the last date for receipt of the online application, in the prescribed format; otherwise the claim to ST/OBC/EWS/Meritorious Sportsperson status is not entertained and the application is considered under the General (UR) category. A Creamy Layer status certificate is accepted only if issued between 07/05/2024 and 06/05/2026.
• ✓Candidates belonging to the PwBD category may also apply against the post where no post is specifically earmarked for that category and are eligible for the PwBD age relaxation; three posts are reserved under horizontal reservation for Low Vision, Hard of Hearing and Locomotor disability including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism and acid attack victims.

• SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
• Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Syllabus snapshot

• Method of selection (Para 7): by Computer Based Test (CBT).
• Recruitment Examination (Para 8): the standard of questions for the Computer Based Test will be generally in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum professional or technical qualifications prescribed for the post.
• The Computer Based Test shall be conducted in English only and will consist of three parts with weightage of marks as below: Professional / technical subject related questions - 80 per cent
• General awareness - 10 per cent
• General Science - 10 per cent
