Andhra Pradesh Judicial Service — Civil Judge (Junior Division) Recruitment

Basic eligibility paths

• ✓Under Rule 5(2)(a) of the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service Rules, 2007 a direct recruit to the Civil Judge category must hold a law degree from a University established by law in India, must not have completed 35 years, and must be of sound health.
• ✓The same rule relaxes the upper age limit by five years for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Backward Class candidates and excludes defence service from the age computation.
• ✓The rules also disqualify a candidate who is not an Indian citizen, who has been dismissed by a High Court or Government, convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude, permanently debarred by a High Court or a Public Service Commission, or who has more than one spouse living.
• ✓These are the standing service rules. Confirm the cut-off date, reservation and category rules in the official current-cycle notification.

Syllabus snapshot

• Rule 6(3) of the Andhra Pradesh State Judicial Service Rules, 2007 draws the written-examination syllabus from procedural and substantive laws, local laws and the Constitution of India.
• Rule 6(4) fixes the written examination at 80 marks and the viva-voce at 20 marks, with minimum qualifying marks in the written examination of 40 per cent for OC, 35 per cent for BC and 30 per cent for SC and ST candidates.
