Basic eligibility paths
- Be a permanent resident of Assam and hold the NCTE minimum academic and professional qualification for the paper applied for.
- Relaxation of up to 5% in HSSLC or graduation marks applies to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PwD(PH) candidates, with at least 40% disability certified by the competent authority.
- Qualification documents are not checked at the examination; they are verified only at the time of teacher engagement, and false claims are criminally liable.

- Paper I: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (Bodo, Garo, Manipuri or Hmar), Language II (English), Mathematics and Environmental Studies - 30 MCQs each.
- Paper II: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II (English) and either Mathematics and Science or Social Science (Studies) for 60 MCQs.
