Who can apply?

Basic eligibility paths

  • Be a permanent resident of Assam and hold the NCTE minimum academic and professional qualification for the paper applied for.
  • Relaxation of up to 5% in HSSLC or graduation marks applies to SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PwD(PH) candidates, with at least 40% disability certified by the competent authority.
  • Qualification documents are not checked at the examination; they are verified only at the time of teacher engagement, and false claims are criminally liable.

Selection process & syllabus

Stage by stage, without mixing recruitment years.

Selection stages

  1. 1Paper I for Lower Primary (classes I-V) and/or Paper II for Upper Primary (classes VI-VIII)
  2. 2150 one-mark MCQs in 150 minutes per paper, with no negative marking
  3. 3Qualifying mark 60% overall and 60% in the Language-I section; 55% overall and 50% in Language-I for SC/ST(P)/ST(H)/OBC/MOBC/PwD(PH)

Syllabus snapshot

  • Paper I: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I (Bodo, Garo, Manipuri or Hmar), Language II (English), Mathematics and Environmental Studies - 30 MCQs each.
  • Paper II: Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II (English) and either Mathematics and Science or Social Science (Studies) for 60 MCQs.
  • Question papers are set in Assamese, Bengali, Bodo and English; the detailed syllabus is published on the SEBA, SSA Assam and SCERT Assam websites.
