Basic eligibility paths

• ✓Appointments on the Appellate Side establishment are open to eligible Indian citizens and, under Notification No. 7609-RG dated 20 November 2025, are made initially on a purely temporary basis though likely to be made permanent, with two years' probation.
• ✓Several current vacancies — Assistant Registrar (General Branch), Stamp Reporter and Protocol Officer — are filled by Promotional Examination from within the establishment rather than by open recruitment, so an outside candidate cannot apply for them.
• ✓Reservation and the relaxation of the upper age limit for Other Backward Classes follow the notifications issued by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of West Bengal, as Notification No. 7609-RG records.
• ✓The Court pays no travelling allowance at any stage of the selection process.
• ✓Confirm the education, age, experience and category rules in the specific post's own employment notice; nothing above is asserted as a rule for any other post.

Relaxations & certificates

• SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
• Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Selection stages

1. 1Open technical posts — a Written Competitive Test followed by a Viva-voce, in such manner as the Appointing Authority may decide (Notification No. 7609-RG dated 20 November 2025); the System Manager Phase-I written test was fixed for 5 September 2026
2. 2Contractual Translator posts — a Phase-I written test followed by a Phase-II computer proficiency test and interview/viva-voce
3. 3Stenographer/P.A. posts — a trade test of dictation and typewriting on computer for the candidates found eligible
4. 4Promotional posts such as Assistant Registrar, Stamp Reporter and Protocol Officer — a Promotional Examination with a Phase-I written test and a final merit-wise result
5. 5Two years' probation on appointment for the posts covered by Notification No. 7609-RG

Syllabus snapshot
