Basic eligibility paths
- Only unmarried male Indian candidates are eligible, and the advertisement bars marriage during the entire four-year tenure.
- Matriculation with at least 50% aggregate plus a three-year AICTE-recognised polytechnic diploma with at least 50% aggregate in a notified Engineering or Electrical stream.
- Shortlisting after Stage-I is carried out state-wise for each batch separately, so the cut-off varies from state to state.

- Minimum height is 157 cm; visual standards are 6/12 in each eye uncorrected, correctable to 6/6 in each eye, with colour perception pass, and permanent tattoos are allowed only on the inner forearm and the back of the hand.
- Sponsor candidates and NCC 'C' certificate holders, verified through CABS and DG NCC respectively, are exempted from the Stage-I INET exam and are issued Stage-II call-ups directly.
- On completion of four years, up to 25% of each batch may be considered for permanent enrolment to become Artificers; the advertisement states Agniveers have no right to further enrolment.
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
- Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.
