Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test 2026 (JTET)

Basic eligibility paths

• ✓Must be a citizen of India and not convicted by a competent court in a criminal case (JHTET-2026 press advertisement, para 1).
• ✓Candidates still appearing in the prescribed teacher-training examination may sit the test, but must submit a verified final marksheet of the training qualification on the date fixed by the examining authority between the exam and the publication of its result, following NCTE letter 112852 dated 4 Aug 2022 issued under the Supreme Court's order in Civil Appeal 5564/2019.
• ✓Permission to appear does not verify a candidate's qualification; final verification rests with the appointing authority named in the Assistant Teacher rules, that is the concerned District Education Superintendent.
• ✓A candidate may sit the test more than once to improve the score.

Relaxations & certificates

• SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
• Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Selection stages

1. 1Level 1 paper for Classes 1–5 and Level 2 paper for Classes 6–8; a candidate may sit both
2. 2One combined objective paper per level of 2 hours 30 minutes (30 extra minutes and a scribe for eligible PwD candidates)
3. 3Qualifying marks: 60% General and EWS, 55% BC-1 and BC-2, 52% SC, ST, PVTG and PwD

Syllabus snapshot

• Level 1 questions follow the state-approved Class 1–5 syllabus at Matriculation difficulty; Level 2 questions follow the Class 6–8 syllabus at Higher Secondary difficulty (JHTET-2026 press advertisement, para 2).
• Papers are set in Hindi and English, with language-subject papers in the language concerned; all questions are objective, answered on an OMR sheet, with no negative marking.
• Use the official JHTET-2026 syllabus published by the Jharkhand Academic Council.
