Four per cent of the total vacancies reported are reserved for eligible differently abled candidates under G.O.(Rt) No.136/2025/SJD dated 06.06.2025. A separate ranked list is prepared for each district.

- 10th · ITI / Diploma A pass in SSLC or its equivalent, plus a Government-approved two-year National/State Trade Certificate in Electrician or Wireman, plus the prescribed physical standards: minimum height 157.48 cm for men and 144.78 cm for women, normal vision free from colour blindness, and physical fitness for outdoor work demonstrated by ascending and descending a 9 m electric pole within 8 minutes in a practical test conducted by Kerala PSC.

- 18-40. Only candidates born between 2 Jan 1986 and 1 Jan 2008 (both dates included) may apply, with the usual relaxation for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Class candidates, subject to an overall ceiling of 50 years. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.

Basic eligibility paths
- Apply for one district only; an application to more than one district leads to removal from the ranked lists and disciplinary action.
- Candidates appointed from the Idukki, Wayanad and Kasaragod district lists cannot obtain working arrangement, deputation, transfer or mutual transfer for at least ten years, and their promotion is limited to those districts (G.O.(Ms) No.6/2026/P&ARD dated 22.01.2026).
- A medical certificate in the format printed in Category 21/2026, signed by a Medical Officer not below the rank of Assistant Surgeon, is required to prove height, vision and fitness for outdoor work.
- Candidates already in Government service holding the same post in any district cannot apply again for this post.
