Who can apply?

Basic eligibility paths
- Recruitment runs under the OSSSC (District Cadre) Rules 2012, the Odisha Subordinate Forest Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service of Foresters) Rules 2018 and of Forest Guards Rules 2018, and the Odisha Lower Excise Service (Excise Constables) Rules 2023.
- Posts are District, Circle or Division cadre, so a selected candidate is posted within the District, Circle or Division concerned.
- For Forester and Forest Guard, only Leprosy Cured Persons and Acid Attack Victims are eligible among Persons with Disabilities categories, per the prescribed reservation.
- Excise Constable applicants must not have knock knee, bow legs, flat foot, varicose veins, squint, poor vision or colour blindness, and must have no impediment in speech or hearing.
- Must be able to read, write and speak Odia, evidenced in one of the four ways listed in the advertisement.
Relaxations & certificates
- Upper age relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC and women candidates.
- Upper age relaxed by 10 years for Persons with Disabilities, cumulative with the SC/ST/SEBC relaxation under the Odisha Civil Service (Fixation of Upper Age Limit) Rules 1989.
- Upper age relaxed by the total period of defence service for ex-servicemen; serving personnel with more than six months left to retire are not eligible.
- Excise Constable applicants holding an NCC 'B' certificate get 1 bonus mark and an NCC 'C' certificate 2 bonus marks.
If your degree title, age, domicile or category certificate is unusual, mark yourself “check required” and read the official wording.

Selection process & syllabus
Stage by stage, without mixing recruitment years.
Selection stages
- 1Stage I — Written Test of 100 marks (MCQ, OMR or CBRE): Mathematics 20, General Studies 25, English 20, Odia 15 and Computer 20, in 1½ hours at High School Certificate standard
- 2Negative marking of 0.25 mark per wrong answer; minimum qualifying score 30% for ST, SC, PwD, ex-servicemen and sportspersons and 35% for others
- 3Stage II — Physical Test comprising Physical Standard Measurement and Physical Efficiency Test at district headquarters, with a shortlist of at least three times the advertised vacancies
- 4Document verification and publication of provisional select lists
Syllabus snapshot
- The written test covers Mathematics, General Studies, English, Odia and Computer at High School Certificate standard, as set out in the Plan of Examinations in advertisement IIE-121/2025-3220/OSSSC.
- Questions are bilingual except the English and Odia language segments; the English version prevails in case of conflict.
