- Education
- 12th 10+2 or its equivalent from a recognised Education Board or University (Matriculation for ex-servicemen), attained on or before 1 January 2026. Every candidate must additionally have passed Matriculation with Punjabi as a compulsory or elective subject, or an equivalent examination in Punjabi specified by the Punjab Government, on or before the same date.
- Age
- 18 to 28 years as on 1 January 2026, with five years' relaxation in the upper age limit for SC and Backward Classes candidates who are residents of Punjab (maximum 33 years) and for serving State or Central Government employees; ex-servicemen deduct their period of service in the Armed Forces from their actual age. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- General ₹1,200 (₹550 application plus ₹650 examination); SC/ST of all states, Backward Classes of Punjab and EWS ₹700 (₹550 plus ₹150); ex-servicemen of Punjab and their lineal descendants ₹500. Payment is online only and the fee is not refunded. Use the official payment instructions only.
- Pay
- Minimum pay admissible for a Constable is ₹19,900 per month, per Advertisement No. 01 of 2026. Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

Who can apply?

Basic eligibility paths
- Minimum height is 5 feet 7 inches (170.2 cm) for men and 5 feet 2 inches (157.5 cm) for women; transgender candidates are treated at par with female candidates for the physical screening and measurement tests.
- Under section 4(b) of the Punjab Police Act 2007 a member cannot be transferred from one cadre to another, so the cadre preference given in the application matters.
- A recruited candidate may be posted or deployed anywhere in Punjab, India or abroad.
- Vacancies against the sports quota are filled through a separate process and are not part of this advertisement.
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.
- Always check the certificate format and cut-off date in the official notice.

Selection process & syllabus

Selection stages
- 1Stage I - a common Computer Based Test with Paper I (100 one-mark multiple-choice questions, counted for merit) and Paper II (a mandatory qualifying Punjabi-language paper of 50 questions at matriculation standard, not counted for merit)
- 2Stage II - Physical Screening Test (PST) and Physical Measurement Test (PMT) with prescribed qualifying parameters
- 3Stage III - document scrutiny
- 4Final merit on Paper I marks after normalisation, together with the cadre preference indicated, against category-wise vacancies
Syllabus snapshot
- Paper I covers General Knowledge (including legislature, executive and judicial institutions), Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English Language, including Punjabi-to-English translation.
- Paper II is a mandatory qualifying paper in Punjabi language equivalent to matriculation standard, 50 questions of one mark each.
- Objections to the answer key are charged a nominal fee of ₹50 per question.
