- 10th · ITI / Diploma Matriculation/SSLC plus an NCVT/SCVT ITI in one of the listed trades, or Matriculation/SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in those trades, or Matriculation/SSLC plus a three-year diploma (or a degree) in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics or Automobile Engineering — Annexure A of CEN 01/2025.

- 18–30 years as on 1 Jul 2025 under CEN 01/2025, before the SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD, ex-servicemen and Course Completed Act Apprentice relaxations set out in para 5.1 of that notice. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- ₹500 for all candidates with ₹400 refunded on appearing in CBT-1, and ₹250 for SC, ST, ex-servicemen, female, transgender, minority and EBC candidates refunded on appearing in CBT-1, under CEN 01/2025. Use the official payment instructions only.
- Pay
- Pay Level 2 of the 7th CPC matrix with an initial pay of ₹19,900 and medical classification A-1, per CEN 01/2025. Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

Basic eligibility paths
- Candidates had to hold the prescribed ITI, Act Apprenticeship or engineering diploma on the closing date of CEN 01/2025.
- Medical standard A-1 applies to Assistant Loco Pilot, and the CEN requires a declaration about corrective eye surgery.
- Only one RRB could be chosen, and that choice was final.
