- 20–28 years as on 1 Apr 2025 in the previous cycle (Advt. No. CRPD/CR/2025-26/06), with three years' relaxation for OBC, five for SC/ST and ten to fifteen for PwBD candidates; the next cycle's notice will fix its own cut-off date. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- ₹750 for General, OBC and EWS candidates and nil for SC/ST/PwBD/ex-servicemen in the previous cycle (Advt. No. CRPD/CR/2025-26/06); the next cycle's fee is not published yet. Use the official payment instructions only.
- Pay
- Pay scale ₹24050-1340/3-28070-1650/3-33020-2000/4-41020-2340/7-57400-4400/1-61800-2680/1-64480 with a starting basic pay of ₹26,730 including two advance increments for graduates, and total starting emoluments of about ₹46,000 a month at a metro such as Mumbai, per the previous cycle's advertisement. Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

Basic eligibility paths
- Candidates may apply for vacancies in one State/UT only and must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the specified local language of that State/UT — tested after the main examination and before joining.
- Candidates who produce a 10th or 12th standard mark sheet showing they studied the specified local language are exempt from the language test (Advt. No. CRPD/CR/2025-26/06).
- Graduation in any discipline is required, with final-year candidates applying provisionally against proof of passing by the notified date.
- Confirm education, age, nationality, domicile and category rules in the official current-cycle notice.
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.

Syllabus snapshot
- The previous cycle's preliminary examination carried 100 marks in one hour — English Language 30, Numerical Ability 35 and Reasoning Ability 35, each separately timed.
- The main examination carried 200 marks over 2 hours 40 minutes — General/Financial Awareness 50, General English 40, Quantitative Aptitude 50 and Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude 60.
- A quarter of the marks is deducted for each wrong objective answer, and preliminary marks are not added to the final merit list.
- Use only the official current-cycle syllabus when it is published.
