- 20-30 years as on 1 Jul 2025 (born between 2 Jul 1995 and 1 Jul 2005) for open candidates; relaxed to 32 years (BC/BC-Muslim/MBC-DNC), 35 years (SC/SC-Arunthathiyar/ST and Transgender), 37 years (destitute widow), and 47 years (ex-servicemen/ex-CAPF, and the 20% departmental quota as on 1 Jul 2024). Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.

Who can apply?

Basic eligibility paths
- Open, Sports Quota, PSTM-preference, Wards-cum-Dependent and 20% Departmental Quota candidates each follow distinct conditions set out in Notification 01/2025.
- Communal reservation follows Tamil Nadu's existing rotation: OC 31%, BC 26.5%, BC(M) 3.5%, MBC/DNC 20%, SC 15%, SC(A) 3%, ST 1%.
- A Transgender candidate who opts to compete as male or female follows that gender's Physical Measurement/Endurance/Efficiency Test and cannot change the choice at a later stage.

- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.

Syllabus snapshot
- Main Written Examination: Part A General Knowledge (40 marks/80 questions) and Part B Logical Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Psychology Test, Communication Skills and Information Handling Ability (30 marks/60 questions); 2.5-hour duration, minimum 35% (25 marks) to qualify, per Notification 01/2025.
