- Postgraduate · Professional degree A Post Graduate degree in the subject of recruitment with at least 50% marks (45% where the NCTE Regulations 2002/2007 apply) plus B.Ed. from an NCTE-recognised institution, or a Post Graduate degree with 50% plus B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.; for language posts the Bachelor's and Master's degrees must be in the same language. Post-specific requirements for Physical Director Grade-I and Computer Instructor Grade-I are set out in Notification 02/2025.

- Upper age limit as on 1 Jul 2025 is 53 years for General Category candidates and 58 years for SC, ST, Backward Class, Backward Class (Muslim), MBC/DNC and Destitute Widows of all castes, per G.O.(Ms) No.185, School Education (Budget-1) Department, dated 21.10.2023. Relaxations and cut-off dates are category-specific.
- Application fee
- Rs 600 per application; Rs 300 for SC, SCA, ST and differently abled candidates, plus applicable online service charges. Use the official payment instructions only.
- Pay
- Rs 36,900-1,16,600 (Level 18), on first appointment at the minimum of Rs 36,900. Gross and in-hand pay vary by posting and allowance.

Basic eligibility paths
- Applications were invited online only; the post code for all three posts is PGA in the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary Educational Service.
- Educational qualifications are reckoned as on the date of the notification and the age limit as on 1 Jul 2025.
- Differently abled candidates may be exempted from the Compulsory Tamil Language Eligibility Test under G.O.(Ms.) No.49, Human Resources (M) Department, dated 23.05.2022.
- Communal reservation follows the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016.
Relaxations & certificates
- SC/ST, OBC-NCL, PwBD and ex-servicemen relaxations follow the applicable notification.

Syllabus snapshot
- Part A Compulsory Tamil Language Eligibility Test is at 10th standard level, per G.O.(Ms.) No.121, School Education (TRB) Department, dated 01.07.2022.
- Part B for Post Graduate Assistant and Physical Director Grade-I: one paper of 150 MCQs in 3 hours — Main Subject 110, Educational Methodology 30 and General Knowledge 10; the subject syllabus is the one published in Gazette No.42A dated 23.10.2024.
- Part B for Computer Instructor Grade-I: 150 MCQs in 3 hours — Computer Science 130, Education Psychology 10 and General Knowledge 10.
- Minimum qualifying marks in Part B per G.O.Ms.No.107, School Education (Q-2), dated 24.07.2003: 75 marks (50%) for other categories, 68 marks (45%) for SC/SCA and 60 marks (40%) for ST.
